Reinstatement to the Practicing Register
Apply for this register in order to practice as a registered nurse and use the title registered nurse or an abbreviation or variation of the title. Your eligibility to reinstate will be evaluated following successful completion of the following requirements:
- Application:
Complete the Application for Reinstatement of Registration form and return it with the application processing fee of $52.50 ($50.00 plus $2.50 GST) to the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM). Your completed application should be sent once only by fax or by mail to prevent duplicate payments or charges to your credit card.
- Verification of Registration:
Complete the upper portion of the Request for Verification of Registration form and submit it to the appropriate regulatory body or bodies with which you have been registered.
If you currently hold active practicing registration in another Canadian province or territory, you are required to obtain verification from your current regulatory body. Please be advised that you may be requested to submit verification(s) of registration(s) from jurisdictions where you have previously been registered if the College requires this information to establish a complete registration history. You may make copies of this form if you need more than one.
If you are not currently registered in another Canadian province or territory submit a request for verification from all regulatory bodies with which you have been registered for the past seven years. The regulatory bodies will complete the form and return it directly to CRNM.
- Verification of Practice Hours:
Complete the upper portion of the Request for Verification of Practice Hours form and submit it to all employers for whom you have worked in the past five years. The employers will complete the form and return it directly to CRNM.
- Continuing Competence:
In accordance with Regulation 128/2001, applicants for reinstatement of registration must fulfill the requirements for continuing competence in one of five ways:
- practice as a registered nurse for a minimum of 1125 hours in the 5 years immediately before the year for which registration is sought; or
- practice as a registered nurse for a minimum of 450 hours in the 2 years immediately before the year for which registration is sought; or
- successfully complete a nursing education program or course of instruction approved by the Board of Directors in the 4 years immediately before the year in which registration is sought; or
- pass the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination in the 4 years immediately before the year in which registration is sought; or
- complete an assessment of prior learning and successfully complete a course of instruction based on the learning needs identified by the assessment.
- Criminal Record Check:
A current, original criminal record check is required. If you were registered with CRNM on the practicing register in the preceding year to which you are applying for reinstatement, you do not require a criminal record check. Faxes and photocopies will not be accepted.
Following receipt of requirements 1 through 5, your application will be considered complete and assessment will begin.
