Winter 2010 Employer Bulletin

Verification Compliance Process Unveiled

To help the College ensure employers are meeting their verification requirement under the Registered Nurses Act, a new process has been developed where employers report their compliance to the College annually. Typically this will occur following the registration renewal cycle. We are asking employers to download, complete and return this form to the College within the next 30 days.

Employers are required under the Act to verify the registration status of the RNs they employ at least annually. Failure to do so may result in penalties provided under the Act. This requirement is another safeguard which protects the public. Employers should also make sure to check the registration status of registered nurses returning to work following a leave of absence. To assist employers in meeting this responsibility, the College offers a free online verification service through its website.

Completion of this form is voluntary this year, but will become a requirement in 2011. Please take a few minutes to fill in the form and fax or mail it to the College. Your cooperation is appreciated. If you have any questions or comments about this new procedure, call 784-5181 or email registration@crnm.mb.ca
