CRNM Social Networking Site – Champions Wanted

A presentation on the College’s e-Strategy was made at the College’s AGM in Morden. At that time a social networking platform was previewed that will let nurses create and participate in an online Community of Practice where they will be able to share articles and other printed and online resources, take part in online discussions and connect with colleagues and peers sharing a common area of interest. We are seeking registered nurses who would like to form a Community of Practice and serve as champions for that group as we begin to populate this platform. The College will assist in creating the beginning structure for the online community and provide training and one-on-one support for a start-up period.

If you are interested, download and complete this Expression of Interest form and email it to info@crnm.mb.ca If you have questions or require additional information please feel free to contact Lisa Fraser or Lindsay Payette at 774-3477 or Manitoba toll-free at (800) 665-2027. A full launch of the Social Networking Platform is planned for later this fall.

Notice of Bylaw Change

Proposed changes to bylaw X were published in the May 2010 RN eJournal and on the College website for consultation. One comment was received on bylaw X. Following consideration of the comment received, the Board adopted the change to bylaw X.

Bylaw X, Sec 1)
Other Fees
The following fees are for college services:
k) a penalty fee of $150.00, in addition to the annual registration renewal fee, paid by a member who fails to pay the annual registration renewal fee by the administrative deadline published by the College.

As a result, the late fee payable by those who miss the registration renewal administrative deadline will be $150 plus GST. Please avoid this penalty by completing your renewal on time.

Upcoming Registration Renewal

Registration renewal activities are beginning to gear up at the College for the 2011 registration year. Watch for the July RN Journal for more details about renewal. Some of the highlights for this renewal include:
  • Registration fees will be frozen for 2011. This marks the 3rd straight year of no increases in your registration fees.
  • Weekly prize draws of retail gift cards for those who renew online. The earlier you renew the more weekly prizes you will be eligible for. In addition, a Grand Prize equal to the registration fee you paid will be awarded to one lucky member who renews online.
  • This will be the last year of the paper renewal form. The renewal process will become paperless after this renewal period.
  • Additional customer help and support will be available by phone, email and online beginning in September. Our goal is to make online renewal a quick and simple process for you.
  • Watch your mailbox or email box for notification of the start date for renewal (mid-September).
  • Please ensure the College has your current mailing address and email address. This will avoid information going astray and not getting to you. Keeping us informed of a change in your contact information is your responsibility. We send information to the last address of record and returned mail is costly. To update your address, email info@crnm.mb.ca with your registration number and your new and old address.

September Board Meeting Shifts to Out-of-Town Beginning this Fall

The September 2010 meeting will be held in Dauphin on September 9 & 10 as the Board begins a new process that will see every September Board meeting occur outside of Winnipeg. The September 2011 meeting will be in Brandon and the September 2012 meeting in Steinbach. All of these meetings will be held in a MBTelehealth equipped site. Another new feature of these meetings is that time will be set aside to receive member delegations on topics of interest.

Delegations are a way for groups or individuals to inform, educate or influence the Board on a subject or topic of interest related to the College’s Mission, Vision and Mandate. The two day meeting will include a social function on Thursday evening and the Friday morning’s agenda will include ample time for delegations to attend and present to the Board. Anyone wishing to appear as a delegation should contact Terry Wilson, Executive Assistant at twilson@crnm.mb.ca at least 30 days in advance of the meeting date to register as a delegation.
