CRNM AGM, Education Day and Awards Banquet

Mark your calendar for the CRNM Annual Meeting, Education Day and Awards Banquet – all taking place at the Canad Inns Polo Park in Winnipeg on Thursday June 4th. A registration form/ticket order form for all three events can be found on the College website.

The Education Day will begin at 1330 hours. Suzanne Gordon, award-winning journalist and author, will present on how nurses can transform relationships to promote patient safety and nurse retention. Insights and strategies into effective teamwork will help nurses replace the parallel play among intimate strangers that now characterizes the hospital and health care workplace. Suzanne will be available for a book signing following the education session. The AGM and the Education Day are free but pre-registration is required.

Join us that evening for our annual Professional Nursing Awards Banquet featuring master of ceremonies Janet Stewart from CBC Manitoba. The awards banquet includes dinner and tickets are available for $52.50 including GST. Congratulations to the 2009 Professional Nursing Award Winners:

H1N1

Visit the College’s homepage for a number of links to resources related to H1N1 including an influenza television commercial developed by the College. As some of the best ways to prevent the spread of disease and germs are to wash your hands often and cover your cough and sneeze the College’s public awareness campaigns about hand washing and cough and sneeze etiquette have particularly timely messages. You can download the commercials as well as additional resources about hand washing and cough and sneeze etiquette on the College’s website.

National Nursing Week

National Nursing Week is right around the corner. A special Nursing Week supplement will be distributed as part of the Winnipeg Free Press this Wednesday in an effort to help promote Nursing Week taking place the following week.

Events will take place in worksites and in communities throughout the province as we mark this annual celebration. The purpose of Nursing Week is to raise awareness about the many contributions registered nursing makes to the well-being of Manitobans. It also provides an opportunity to educate Manitobans about important health issues, to share information they need to make good decisions about their health, and to promote the critical role of registered nurses in our health system. Nursing Week coincides with the birthday of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale on May 12th.
