Working Together, Walking Together - Stamp Out Stigma

Winnipeg, MB - Mental Illness Awareness Week kicks off with the 2nd annual Community Walk “Working Together, Walking Together - Stamp Out Stigma." The walk aims to stamp out the various stigmas surrounding mental illness. The goal is for those with mental health issues to be able to live and work in communities that support meaningful lives. The walk will start at 11am from 4 Fort Street and end at the Legislature Building where the Minister of Health, the Honourable Theresa Oswald will proclaim Mental Illness awareness week. The Manitoba Neonatal Developmental and Family-Centred Care Committee, in partnership with the University of Manitoba, is holding a workshop led by Dr. Susan Ludington, RN, PhD. Dr. Ludington, an internationally recognized nurse expert on skin-to-skin care, is a dynamic speaker with important information for clinicians who work with infants and newborns. Professional Practice Education Series: Continuing Competence

1130-1230 hrs: Lunch N Learn (MBTelehealth, in-person in the CRNM Board Room 890 Pembina Hwy, and via teleconference) - The CRNM Continuing Competence Program is a requirement for all members. This session provides a review of the program purpose, requirements, and processes for nurses already familiar with the program as well as an overview for those nurses new to the profession. Participants will have lots of opportunity to ask questions. Presented by Geraldine Selkirk, RN BN MHS Consultant, Nursing Practice. There is no cost to register for and participate in these sessions. Registration is on a first come, first served basis as spaces are limited for in-person, teleconference and MBTeleHealth. Community Cancer Care 2010 Conference
