Quality Practice Environment Initiative
The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) recognizes the importance of quality practice environments in which registered nurses work to deliver expert health care services to Manitobans. As a way to support registered nurses in working to achieve quality practice environments, CRNM has implemented the Quality Practice Environment Initiative. This presentation will provide not only a general overview of the initiative, but also updates on strategies shown in research and practice to improve culture and work environments. Focus will be on the five core components of a quality practice environment: Leadership, Communication & Collaborative Practice, Professional Development, Workplace Health, Safety & Well-being of the Nurse and Control over Practice. Presented by Pamela Matson RN BN CDE.

Leadership Responsibilities of the Charge Nurse
Nursing in today's busy health care environments requires strong, consistent and knowledgeable leaders who are visible, inspirational and supportive to professional nursing practice. The ongoing development of existing and emergent leaders is critical to quality care environments and strong nurse leaders play a significant role. These qualities are not only the expectations but the responsibilities of the charge nurse leader. This session will focus on the application of the Standards of Practice and the charge nurse role. Presented by Geraldine Selkirk RN BN CNEPH(C) MHS, Nursing Practice Consultant.
