CANO/ACIO is a national professional association dedicated to the provision of quality nursing care for persons affected by cancer. Established in 1984, CANO/ACIO is the first national association to support the efforts of Canadian nurses in promoting and developing excellence in oncology nursing practice, education and research. CANO/ACIO created the foundation for specialization of oncology nurses and the leadership roles nurses play in the delivery of health care services in Canada.
CANO/ACIO’s Mission is to lead nursing excellence in care control for Canadians, with a Vision to being an international nursing leader in cancer control. As a national organization, we influence the direction of cancer care and shape the health and welfare of our patients, their families and our communities.
At the local level, CANO-MB strives to provide ongoing educational activities and programs for Manitoba nurses who have an interest in providing care for people with cancer. We believe that supporting professional oncology nursing development is the best way for use to impact cancer care in our province.

| Purpose: | CHNC, an associate member of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), is a voluntary association of community health nurses consisting of community health nurses and provincial/territorial community health nursing interest groups. CHNC provides a unified national voice to represent and promote community health nursing and the health of communities. CHNC provides a forum for community health nurses across Canada to share issues of mutual concern and to communicate through meetings and national publications. CHNC monitors trends and issues in community health nursing and identifies and responds to issues of interest and concern. CHNC identifies and responds to issues of interest and concern which affect all community health nurses across Canada. CHNC represents the view of CHNC to the Canadian Nurses Association. CHNC is a leader in the development of discipline-specific standards of practice, core competencies, and a community health nursing certification process. These activities have led to a greater understanding of community health nursing and will increase the knowledge and ability of community health nurses and nursing students in Canada.

MAPAN provides educational, mentoring and networking opportunities with professionals that have a wide range of clinical experience, educational backgrounds and administrative expertise. Members are supported at the provincial level by regularly sponsored Education Sessions as well as access to information on Peri-Anesthesia research and important national issues through the NAPANc national website: www.napan.org MAPAN members have the opportunity to participate in discussions at regular membership meetings and also have access to some financial support for education through the MAPAN Education Fund.

The Manitoba Nursing Informatics Association (MNIA) is the nurses’ voice for health informatics in Manitoba. The goals of the MNIA are:

- To provide leadership in Manitoba within matters of nursing and health informatics

MNIA General Meetings are held five times a year on the third Monday of January, March, May, September and November and are open to all MNIA members and interested persons. Meetings are usually held at the CRNM building located at 890 Pembina Highway and start at 1730 hrs. We are pleased to announce that our meetings are now accessible through the MBTelehealth network! Manitoba’s occupational health nurses are individually and jointly dedicated to the prevention of occupational illness and injury and promotion and maintenance of the health of workers in all occupations. Occupational health nursing is a specialty within the boarder profession of nursing and requires special skills and knowledge in the fields of occupational health and safety education, counseling, environmental health, rehabilitation, human resources and ergonomics. The Occupational Health Nurse acts as the liaison between the workplace and the community in issues related to occupational illnesses and injuries.
