The Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)

In the future, the College will be transitioning from our current Act and Regulations to governance under the RHPA. This is “umbrella” legislation which means each regulated health profession will have the common RHPA and will also have its own profession-specific regulations. The College has not yet transitioned, but comes under the Transitional Provisions outlined in the Act. We are expected to come under this new legislation sometime in 2016.

Update - Aug. 18, 2016
In January 2016, Manitoba Health instituted an Advisory Panel to review the General Council Regulation for registered nurses under the RHPA. The Panel has reported and the Minister has indicated his support for the College to continue to move forward in the process to become governed under the RHPA. Click here to read the RHPA Advisory Panel report.

General Council Regulation (under review)

The General Council Regulation contains information related to the classes of registration, membership requirements, continuing competency requirements, reserved acts and standards of practice. These RN regulations have been developed through consultations with members, employers, regional health authorities, Diagnostic Services Manitoba and other regulators, and reflect current registered nursing practice in a reserved acts model.
