Our Responsibility

As the professional regulatory body for RNs in Manitoba, we have a responsibility to protect the public. The College uses the professional conduct review process to address allegations of unacceptable conduct or practice by RNs. This involves investigation, discipline and appeal processes.

Investigation, Discipline & Appeals Process

One of the primary goals of the investigation, discipline and appeals process is to achieve an appropriate balance between the safety and interests of the public and the roles and responsibilities of RNs. However, the safety of the public always takes precedence over the interests of RNs or the profession. Whenever possible, complaints are resolved through education and remedial strategies. This corrects and improves the RN’s nursing practice and also promotes meeting the standards of practice and code of ethics.
