Notice Regarding Extension of RN(AP) Transition Period
Message from the CEO/Registrar
The College received notification May 28, 2020 from the Assistant Deputy Minister, Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living that an extension period of 2 years will be granted to the application of subsection 7(16) of the Practice of Registered Nursing Regulation under The Regulated Health Professions Act for a period of 2 years ending on May 31, 2022.
The extension will require approval from the Lieutenant Governor in Council, following a 30-day consultation period, so it is not yet in effect. We anticipate this may take up to 90 days to come into effect. Until the extension is approved, RNs working in prescriber roles must cease the practice effective May 31, 2020. Please note that this change does not affect registered nurses who have already completed the education program and received the RN(AP) notation.
Please contact a Quality Practice Consultant if you have questions regarding your practice at 204-774-3477 ext 301 or practice@crnm.mb.ca.
Sincerely,
Katherine Stansfield RN MN
