Overview

On May 31, 2018 we came under The Regulated Health Professions Act and our board is now called a council.

Council sets the vision and strategic direction for the College and governs in the interest of the public. This means they:

  • set the direction of the College including developing strategic priorities, a vision and values
  • anticipate and plan for trends in society, health care, and registered nursing practice
  • understand and lead the change in health regulation

Our council is made up of six RNs and five public representatives in the following positions:

  • Chair
  • Chair-elect
  • Registered nurses
  • Public representatives (two of whom are appointed by the Government of Manitoba)

Governance Policy Manual

The College’s new governance policy manual replaces all previous Governance Process (GP), Executive Expectation (EE), and Council-CEO/Registrar (CR) policies. The policies in the manual are developed and approved by Council. They provide the framework and accountabilities for the governance of the RN profession in the public interest.

Cynthia Taylor

RN, Chair

Cynthia Taylor is a registered nurse member of the College’s Council. Cynthia brings experience in acute and long-term care as well as risk management and quality improvement knowledge from rural and urban perspectives.

Naomi Nickerson

RN(NP), Chair-Elect

Naomi Nickerson is a Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner member of the College’s Council. Naomi brings experience in primary care, ambulatory care, ER, public health, and nursing leadership from a northern perspective. Naomi also brings volunteer experience in non-profit governance.

Oluwatosin (Tosin) Daso

RN

Oluwatosin (Tosin) Daso is a Registered Nurse member of the College’s Council. Tosin brings experience in Emergency Departments and Acute Care from rural and urban perspectives within Canada, as well as Student Governance experience.

Brenda Janz

RN

Brenda Janz is a Registered Nurse member of the College’s Council. Brenda brings experience in the acute care, hospital based Health Care sector from an urban perspective.

Kristen McGregor

RN

Kristen McGregor is a Registered Nurse member of the College’s Council. Kristen brings experience in women’s health from an urban perspective.

Public Representative

Cheryl is a Public Representative Member of the College’s Council. Cheryl brings experience in Non Profit Administration, Governance and Finance from a rural perspective.

Jason Powell

Public Representative

Jason Powell is a public representative member of the College’s Council. Jason is a lawyer and brings experience in the legal, governance, regulatory compliance, and privacy sectors from an urban perspective.

Thomas Milne is a public representative member of the College’s Council. Tom brings experience in the not-for-profit/labour relations sector from an urban perspective.
