Office Closure in Observance of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Office closed September 30, 2022.
The College will be closed on September 30, 2022 in observance of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to commemorate and reflect on the grievous and damaging legacy of Canada’s residential school system, and to honour Indigenous survivors, their families and communities.
Over the past year, our staff and Council have been engaged in a learning journey including reflection and education on how registered nursing regulation can support reconciliation in Manitoba.
We have developed a statement outlining our commitment to a journey of learning and reconciliation, together with Indigenous peoples. We will continue to work to:
- Understand the impact of residential schools and colonization on the health of Indigenous peoples of Canada,
- Participate in developing meaningful actions to address the gaps in equity of health and social outcomes for Indigenous peoples,
- Recognize the value of the healing practices of Indigenous peoples through collaboration with Healers, Elders, and knowledge keepers, and
- Assure current and future registered nurses have education in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights and anti-racism.
We pledge to carry out the mandate of the College to serve and protect the interests of Indigenous peoples through equitable, fair and transparent practices and policies.
Our offices will re-open on Monday, October 3, 2022 for regular office hours and the start of the registration renewal period.
